Blood Tribe Crime Stoppers – First Indigenous led Crime Stoppers chapter in Canada

Crime in our communities requires innovative, effective programs which generate information for law enforcement agencies dealing with criminal activity. By encouraging greater public participation, the police have a better chance combating crime in our communities. Blood Tribe Crime Stoppers has partnered with Southern Alberta Crime Stoppers to create the first Indigenous Crime Stoppers chapter in Canada.
What is Crime Stoppers? Crime Stoppers is a charitable not-for-profit organization that allows tipsters to anonymously report information about crimes or suspicious behaviour through calling or submitting online. Information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $2000. The program relies entirely on public for donations.
Blood Tribe Crime Stoppers can take your anonymous information two ways: 1. Calling 1-800-222-8477 and speaking with a trained information call-taker or 2. Using this website and submitting a secure on-line tip.
Your anonymous information is then passed along to the investigators at the appropriate law enforcement agency. The “TIPSTER” (that’s you) is never identified but is assigned a code number. The tip is investigated. The police will inform Crime Stoppers on how the case is progressing so it is important for the TIPSTER to call back for an update on the case during regular business hours.
