GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT

General Investigations Unit

The General Investigation Unit (GIU) is responsible for the investigation of serious crimes and drug enforcement. GIU is a support section that assists in, but not limited to, violent crimes, crime analysis, property crimes, serious habitual offenders, special operations, criminal intelligence and economic crimes.
 


GIU members take on multiple roles, such as Domestic Violence Coordinator, ViCLAS Coordinator, SORCA Coordinator and Crime Analyst.

 
The Blood Tribe Police Service is a full member of the Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) and this section has direct involvement with CISA. GIU members also work closely with ALERT’s CFSE Unit and surrounding agencies to fight organized crime
