Structure Fire on the Blood Indian Reserve – Blood Tribe Adolescent Treatment Centre


On November 28th 2013 at 12:48 pm, the Blood Tribe Police/Fire EMS dispatch was contacted by a staff member of the Blood Tribe Adolescent Treatment Centre who reported seeing smoke coming out of the floor vents.  The Blood Tribe Fire/EMS Department, Blood Tribe Police Service, Cardston County Emergency Services, and the Cardston RCMP were dispatched to assist at the Adolescent Treatment Centre.  5 staff members and 7 clients were successfully evacuated, with no injuries.  The fire engulfed the entire building within a few minutes, and the structure could not be saved.


The fire was contained to the immediate area, and was successfully extinguished.  A Provincial Fire Inspector attended the scene, and conducted an investigation as to the cause of the fire.  The preliminary investigation has revealed that the cause of the fire is non criminal.
